One Size Doesn’t Fit All...

IF ONLY...if only I was 5 pounds lighter. IF stomach was more toned...IF ONLY I had a dollar for every time I said these things or had these thoughts...I’d be independently wealthy. I know these thoughts are pervasive - it’s not just me. We live in a society of “thinner”, “prettier” = happier. As a fashion brand with a set of strong values centred around cruelty-free and ethically-made, I want to make sure that I’m not contributing to this negative narrative. And well, yes, it’s easy when you’re selling shoes - although I think I’ll stop referring to “larger” and “smaller” sizes somehow 😂. But I was recently thinking about the gorgeous belts we’re offering and well, they include what could be considered pejorative sizing conventions: small, medium, large. Should we change that? Just include the lengths? Do you have any suggestions for body-positive sizing conventions? We may well move into some apparel if all goes according to plan so I’d like to make sure I’m not reinforcing negative imaging in my brand.

It is definitely something to consider and to continue to be aware of! If we miss the mark ever, don’t hesitate to let me know!
