The 2017 annual Ottawa Veg Fest has got you covered! It’s all happening Saturday and Sunday June 3-4 at the RA Centre! There are so many offerings this year - from exhibitors to speakers to workshop sessions - so it’s hard to know where to start! I’d just suggest planting yourself (pun intended) there for the full two days and soaking it all in. Here are just a few suggestions – categorized from “head to toe" and from "your inside" (i.e. delicious food and drink!) to "your outside” (i.e. all of the amazing things you can lather onto your body!) - to check out.HEAD (for your brain and let’s face it for your heart and all around well-being): Simply Meditation - They offer yoga and meditation classes. I’m not sure if they’ll be leading a meditation session but I’m curious to know more. I could definitely add some meditation time to my everyday!Foodworks Ottawa - Foodworks is an initiative through social enterprise Operation Come Home. They work with at risk youth to teach them real life kitchen skills under the training of a certified chef. The meals they make get delivered to in central Ottawa to customers 3x per week and include a vegan option! I simply love this organization. Plant Kind and Susan MacFarlane Nutrition - Plant-based personal trainer, Kyle den Bak, and vegan Registered Dietitian, Susan Macfarlane, will be hosting a how-to 31 Day Vegan Challenge to help you improve your health, enhance your fitness, and reach your wellness goals. What an opportunity to learn about vegan nutrition and fitness to kick-start your summer bod!Somewhere in between HEAD and TOE:Wully Uterwear – Wully’s coats make it easier to contemplate winterwear right now. This is a new discovery for me. I love that their coats are 100% vegan AND stylish. This is our raison d'etre at SOULiers Studio: ethical fashion that doesn't compromise on style.TOE:SOULiers Studio – I can’t really plug my own brand on my own blog can I?! We’re not exhibiting (this year) but we are offering a special exclusive Veg Fest promo and 15% discount to Veg Fest Facebook followers and attendees! Check it out!INSIDE:Nona Vegan Sauces – Rich and creamy sauces. Alfred-Style Sauce, Cheesy-Style Sauce and Carbonara Style-Sauce. Yum. Say no more.Olivia Chocolat – Delicious and fine chocolate to be enjoyed in its pure form or in vegan baking!Fauxmagerie Zengarry – One of the hardest things for me in transitioning to a vegan diet has been giving up cheese. But Zengarry makes it a whole lot easier! I can’t wait to sample the Brie and smokey jalapeno flavors.OUTSIDE:Saabon – Through its beautiful storefront and awesome Instagramming, Saabon has been making an impression on Ottawa and beyond. Saabon uses a traditional cold-process soap-making method. Their handcrafted soaps are made from scratch in small batches to ensure consistent quality. They don’t use any synthetic chemicals or foaming agents, artificial fragrance oils, artificial colourings, or any preservatives. And they are 100% against animal testing! Les Coconuts – I was drawn in by the name of this company. And I’ll stay for the products! I’m desperate to try their scrubs (coconut, pink grapefruit, coffee cocoa). Les Coconuts products are made of natural and organic ingredients, are free of Phthalates, BPAs and other synthetics, and they are “tested on owners, not animals”.Each of the exhibitors at Ottawa Veg Fest 2017 has such a unique story and yet they’re all connected by the same values. I can’t wait to discover some new brands and stories this coming weekend! And if you're not in Ottawa, be sure to have a look for your own city's veg fest! They seem to get better and better by the year.
